PageOneQ Senator and Obama running mate Joseph Biden expressed his opposition to California Proposition 8 during an appearance on Ellen. "First of all, congratulations," Biden told married lesbian Ellen DeGeneres. "If I lived in California, I'd clearly vote against Prop. 8. And, by the way, Barack and I both opposed a similar attempt nationally...I think it's regressive, I think it's unfair, and...so, I'd vote 'No'." "No on Prop. 8, fantastic. That's what I wanted to know," Ellen said, "just 'cause I don't want to return the china we got." While the Obama/Biden ticket does not support a definition of civil marriage outside the man/woman framing, they do advocate recognition of same-sex couples' partnership and property rights on a federal level. DeGeneres has been legally married to actress Portia DeRossi since June, when the California Supreme Court's May 15th ruling went into effect affirming equal marriage rights for all couples by striking down the state statute voted into law in 2000. Proposition 8, on November's ballot, would insert the exact language directly into the California Constitution. In the following video clip, Senator Biden also gives his take on being chosen to run as a vice presidential candidate, the economy, "Joe the Plumber" and ending the occupation of Iraq. It was aired on October 20, 2008:
