Originally thinking the story was a hoax, they decided to report on it since Oprah "legitimized" it on Thursday, as co-host Willie Geist puts it. A clip explaining the artificial insemination process, involving a syringe obtained from a veterinarian, particularly disturbs Scarborough.

"I'm confused," says Mika Brzezinski. "If he's the mother, who's the father?"

"The parrot," jokes Scarborough, "at the pet shop!"

"A former aide of Jim McGreevey," he adds, particularly keen on references to the openly gay former New Jersey governor.

"This is what makes our business terrible," says Brzezinski. "This kind of news -- it's so stupid and useless, and yet, I can't get enough of it."
