Nick Langewis Formerly a teenage beauty queen, Beatie kept his original reproductive organs as he transitioned, intending to raise his own biological children. "It's not a male or female desire to want to have a child," the Oregonian told Oprah Winfrey in an April appearance, "it's a human desire." After his first attempt to conceive resulted in an ectopic pregnancy and the loss of a fallopian tube, Beatie, 34, joyfully awaits the arrival of his daughter, with four weeks to go. "All the people who really know us and love us, our friends and family, have been incredibly supportive," Beatie told News of the World in a recent exclusive photo feature. "So much so we might even have more children." Beatie has also reportedly signed on with St. Martin's Press to pen a memoir of his life experiences, to be published in late September, entitled Love Makes A Family: A Memoir of Hardship, Healing and an Extraordinary Pregnancy. The accompanying video report below was broadcast on ABC's Good Morning America on June 9, 2008:
"I feel fantastic," said transman Thomas Beatie. "I cannot wait to see my baby's face."
