Senate hopeful Caroline Kennedy supports full marriage equality

Caroline Kennedy, seeking the New York Senate seat to be vacated by Hillary Clinton when she becomes Secretary of State next month, has come out in favor of marriage equality.

"Caroline supports full equality and marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples," a spokesman told Politico and the New York Times on Saturday.

While same-sex marriages cannot be performed in New York, Governor David Paterson issued a directive on May 29, 2008 mandating that marriages between New York residents performed in other jurisdictions be recognized within the state.
