Nick Langewis Do, president of the Auckland University Students Association, took the liberty of appearing on campus as a walking, talking penis to talk to his fellow students about the importance of male sexual health and encourage them to get tested for sexually transmitted infections. "We're all doing this for a good reason," Do said. "The last thing we want is for our male members to be thrust into a sticky situation!" "Chlamydia is the most commonly diagnosed sexually transmitted infection in New Zealand," he went on, "and gonorrhea surely can't be far behind. Sometimes those who have it don't have any symptoms, so this increases the importance of being safe and getting checked." The costume was provided by Auckland University student Kris Sproull, who designed it for a costume party. The school joined at least three other Kiwi campuses to promote in the New Zealand Union of Student Associations' MASH (Men as Advocates of Sexual Health) program. "We wanted to catch people's attention and get them thinking about the issues," Do said. "We've had really positive feedback from students -- students love the costume."
To promote the health of his fellow students, New Zealander David Do made a dick of himself on Thursday.
