The latest in a series of public service announcements by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has been released. Starring openly gay retired NBA player John Amaechi, the 20 second video is targeted toward non LGBT individuals and explains that they "have the power to make a difference by treating people with dignity and respect" when they choose to come out.
"John has experienced firsthand how homophobia in the sports world can prevent athletes from living their lives honestly and openly," GLAAD Director of Sports Media Ted Rybka said in a statement released with the PSA. "John's message has the power to awaken people to the realities of what it's like to be a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender athlete."
