Haggard prostitute goes silent after blogger questions his latest claim

by PageOneQ

Mike Jones, author of I Had To Say Something, has ceased giving interviews following a stormy confrontation with PageOneQ's editor Mike Rogers.

Jones, appearing on Palm Springs, California radio station KNWQ-AM intimated that he had met with or had a sexual encounter with the Idaho senator. Craig pleaded guilty in August after an arrest in June in the Minneapolis, MN airport.

During the show, Mike Rogers, the blogger who first reported on Craig's activities in a bathroom in Washington, DC's Union Station, called into the show to challenge Jones on his statements. (The complete story and audio from the show may be seen and heard here.)

In an email exchange obtained by PageOneQ, James Tidmarsh of Clear Channel Communications inquired of Jones's publisher, Seven Stories Press, to obtain an interview with Jones. Tidmarsh wrote to Seven Stories Press representative Ruth Weiner:

"I'm e-mailing you looking to hopefully get some clarification on his interview on Larry Craig last week. I understand Mike probably doesn't want to talk about the Craig issue on air..but I'm wondering if he has some sort of statement regarding Craig's office's denial. If he has released something I'd be interested in getting a copy...or even talking to him directly about it for a few minutes. Also I would still be interested in booking him...

Without further comment, Weiner responded via email:

Mike is taking a break from interviews right now and has no comment on the Craig allegations.

Messages left for Weiner at her office and home office this morning have not yet been returned to PageOneQ.
